The 12th Seguimos Creando Enlaces Binational Library Conference held two exciting days of in-person programming in both San Diego, CA on Thursday, March 13 at the Univ. of San Diego’s Copley Library, and then at Biblioteca Loyola at Uni. Iberoamericana Tijuana, BC, México on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The timely conference theme was Unidos en la Diversidad – Embracing all Voices, opening with a keynote address from USD Copley Library Associate Dean Dr. Regina Gong, and later featured local Chicana community leader and award-winning author Bea Zamora.
Two tracks of sessions offered interpreted English and Spanish presentations by colleagues from both sides of the U.S.-México border, speaking on how their work in public, academic & special libraries and/or literacy initiatives creates meaningful connections through inclusion, play and community support, while also highlighting the importance of bilingual services and diversity. Additionally, the new “Conversation Room” track also featured interactive, hands-on activities designed for communities of color, immigrants, refugees, LGBTQIA+, Spanish speakers, ELL/ESL learners, digital equity initiatives and binational collaborations.
